I tried really hard to make this one longer than 25 minutes, I really did, but I couldn’t find another song that fit well into this mix for the life of me. I think its pretty good, though a bit short. Have a listen.

I started this noisecast by trying to make a pop punk mix and failing miserably (the only track remaining is “Glendora”). I know that not all of these songs are “folk-punk” in the strictest sense, and you die hard folk-punkers will probably scoff at a bunch of my choices, but I selected these songs under the criteria that they all had something punk about them, and that they were acoustic, not because they were traditional anarcho-folk-punk jams (though you still get “Punx win!”).
Its loose, but I think it flows pretty well.

For the past few weeks I’ve been working on developing an acoustic set for my solo live performances. Ive been paying a lot of attention to what makes a song feel complete when its stripped down to nothing but vocals and acoustic guitar. No overdubs, piano, doubled vocals, strings, effects, etc. I started looking through my music library for songs by some of my favorite artists that I could reference/steal from for inspiration, and (kind-of) to my surprise, a much larger number of tracks than I would have imagined featured extra accompaniment of some kind. I actually found it pretty difficult to make this playlist flow well with the limited amount of music that fit the requirements(no live tracks/bootlegs solo performances allowed). I’m pretty happy with the result though, and I think its a pretty good showcase of just how many different things you can actually do with only one voice and one guitar.
enjoy.
