Song Of The Week: Florence And The Machine – Dog Days Are Over

I missed out on Florence And The Machine’s debut album Lungs when it came out last year. Luckily for me, about a week ago a good friend of mine told me to give it a listen, and I’m glad I did. Although I’m not a huge fan of the album in its entirety, I’m in love with the opening track Dog Days Are Over.

Listen to if you like:, Fiest, Mirah, AC Newman, The New Pornographers.

New Music: The White Stripes Under Great White Northern Lights

leaked fresh of the presses of the Internets. These are the first three tracks off the new live album Under Great White Northern Lights. The CD, LP, DVD, BD, and box set are all due out on March 16, 2010 via Jack White’s Third Man Records. If you like these songs you should definitely snatch a pre-order. I love this version of Little Ghost.

New Release: Beat Radio – …and in the end shoot back (diggs cover)

If you weren’t convinced by the songs I posted a few weeks ago in this interview you should listen to this latest one. Apparently the lyrics were taken from a work-in-progress novel that was being written by a friend who had passed away,( and It certainly feels haunting). The sound is bit of a departure from the more rock-oriented songs of earlier Beat Radio. Listen up.

New Release: Neon Indian – Sleep Paralysist

I’ve tried to listen to Neon Indian jams before, but I could never really get into them. I like this song quite a bit though. It was apparently released on mountain dew’s Green Label Sound. Mountain dew has a record label? yes sir.

New MGMT – Flash Delirium

I was a really big fan of MGMT’s debut album ‘Oracular spectacular’ , but I cant say that this track has me anything but worried about their new album. I’m not really a big fan of the beatles rippin’ harmonies, but I do like the punk-derived outro. Listen for yourself.

New Bright Eyes / Neva Dinova – Happy Accident

The new Bright Eyes / Neva Dinova split ‘reissue’ is out now. This is my favorite new track of the LP. A return to form for Bright Eyes? I think so.

Bright Eyes – Happy Accident

also, listen to this live version of I know you, I think its much better than the LP version anyway, its got more teeth.

and everyone should buy the reissue, because its got some of the best BE/Neva material ever recorded on it.

New LCD Soundsystem – Oh you (Christmas Blues)

Fresh Leak (or maybe not a leak, I’m not really sure) from the Greenberg soundtrack. I am so badly wanting to hear new LCD material right now.

Song Of The Week: The Kinks – This Time Tomorrow

I had tried to get into the kinks at one point, about 1 or 2 years ago, but I was really turned off (I mostly checked out their hits). I heard this song while watching the darjeeling limited the other day, and was surprised as hell when I found out that it was the kinks. I cant get that guitar riff out of my head.
